Applicant tracking systems can extract standard resume sections, compare your experience and skills with a job description, and help recruiters manage applications. This checker highlights the readable sections, relevant keywords, and formatting signals you can improve for a specific role.

- Is this ATS resume checker free?

- Which applicant tracking systems does it check against?
- The checker models the parsing and keyword-matching behaviour common to the systems most US employers use, including Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, iCIMS, Taleo and Oracle Recruiting. It is not an integration with, or a certification by, any of those products.
- What is a good ATS score?
- We treat 75 out of 100 as the interview-readiness threshold. Above that a resume is likely to survive automated screening for the role it was scanned against; between 50 and 74 it is readable but missing keywords and section signals; below 50 there are structural or keyword gaps serious enough to risk automatic filtering.
- Do applicant tracking systems really reject resumes automatically?
- Far less often than commonly claimed. The widely repeated figure that 75% of resumes are auto-rejected has no traceable primary source, and recruiter research published in 2026 found most systems are not configured to auto-reject on content. Systems rank and sort far more often than they discard. The practical risk is ranking poorly, not being silently binned.
- What formatting breaks ATS parsing?
- Multi-column layouts, tables, text inside images or logos, headers and footers carrying key details, and non-standard section headings. A single-column resume with conventional headings such as Experience, Education and Skills parses most reliably.
- Should a US resume differ from a UK CV?
- Yes, and it matters for screening. US resumes are typically one to two pages, omit a photo, date of birth and marital status, and use MM/DD/YYYY dates. UK CVs run longer and reference GCSEs and A-levels. Submitting a UK-formatted CV to a US employer can read as unfamiliar to both the system and the recruiter.
